My mother was a mentor to me and one of the many lessons I learned from her was how powerful an individual's senses can be. She used to tell me stories of how, as a young girl, she used to hold plumerias blossom in her arms on warm summer days and their perfume would immediately make her feel peaceful and calm. This idea of a sensitive yet strong blossom has carried with me through out my life, along with the unique aroma of the exotic beaches with golden sand that it brings to mind. Every time I catch its powdery scent, it awakens my senses, lifts my mood and boosts both my confidence and determination to face whatever life throws at me. What started as something so simple has become an inspiration that I carry in my heart wherever I go.
